PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce the subject compound useful for control, etc., of liquid sucking insects, eating damage insect pests or nematodes of plants, parasites, etc., on animals in one stage by bringing a Streptomyces species microorganism having a 14,15-epoxidizing ability into contact with a milbemycin. SOLUTION: A Streptomyces species microorganism capable of carrying out the 14,15-epoxidizing reaction (e.g. Streptomyces diastatochromogenes ATCC31561) is brought into contact with a milbemycin represented by formula I [R3 is methyl, ethyl, isopropyl, secondary butyl, etc.; R4 is a group represented by formula II (R2 is H, the formula CO-CH2 O-CO-CH2 CH2 -COOH, etc.), etc.] for a time sufficient to carry out the 14,15-epoxidizing reaction to thereby efficiently afford the objective epoxymilbemycin, effective in control, etc., of liquid sucking insects, eating damage insect pests or nematodes of plants, parasites, etc., on animals and represented by formula III (R1 ' is the same kind as that of R3 ; A' is the same kind as that of R4 ) in one stage. |
