摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a learner to learn English with a game sensation and to understand the results of the learning, by judging whether the continuous character strings formed by characters stored in a memory means are stated in a word dictionary or not. SOLUTION: A CPU 1 first sets the scanning direction in a row direction, scans the first row, finds the top of the character strings and temporally stores the character code in the top position in a RAM 3 when this CPU detects the top position. Next, the CPU connects the character code to the temporarily stored character when there is the adjacent character. The CPU 1 retrieves an English word dictionary 6A with respect to this character string. If this character string is stated in the English word dictionary 6A, this character string is regarded to be a word and this extent is announced to the learner. If, on the other hand, the character string is not stated in the English word dictionary 6A, this character string is regarded not to be the word and the CPU 1 retrieves the English word dictionary 6A by connecting the adjacent character with the present retrieved character string.
