SOLUTION: At the time of fitting the lid body 3 of a semiconductor wafer housing container 1 to the main body 2 of the container 1, the cylindrical section 3a of the lid body 3 is put on the cylindrical section 2b of the main body 2 and each projecting body introducing port opened in the step section at the upper end of the internal surface of the section 3a is matched to each projecting body 2f at the upper end of the section 2b and the main body 2 and lid body 3 are relatively turned clockwise against each other. The fitting work of the lid body 3 to the main body 2 can be performed while the main body 2 is placed on a flat place, such as the table, etc., or the attaching/detaching projecting section 3c and the lower side face of the main body 2 are respectively held by both hands. In addition, the container 1 can be placed vertically with the bottom section 2a of the main body 2 on the bottom side or horizontally with one face of the angular pipe section 3b of the lid body 3 on the bottom side, because the peripheral surface of the lid body 3 has a square shape due to the section 3b.
