PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a character pattern natural to the eyes without neglecting the thickness of an entry line by correcting the distortion or the like of the pattern of contour vectors obtained in a polygon approximation processing for normalized binary images, synthesizing the contour vectors continued in the same direction and performing polygon approximation. SOLUTION: A polygon approximation processing means 16 tracks the contour of a character pattern received from a normalization processing part 14 by a contour tracking means 161' and obtains plural first contour vectors. A second contour vector transformation means 162 corrects the distortion or the like of the pattern of the first contour vectors and obtains second contour vectors. A third contour vector synthesis means 163 checks the respective second contour vectors in the order of contour tracking, and in the case that the two or more second contour vectors continued in the same direction are present, synthesizes the second contour vectors and turns them to a third contour vector. Then, the two data of the non-synthesized second contour vectors and the third contour vector are stored in a memory as feature data. |
