<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a picture area extracting method by which a desired object area can be automatically extracted for a still picture and for a moving picture regardless of a moving area or a still area in a short processing time with relatively simple hardware. SOLUTION: A picture is inputted (S10), and divided into approximating color areas in which pixel values are similar to each other (S12). Then, an attentional area where an object is extracted is designated (S16), and all the approximate color areas whose areas are almost included in the attentional area are extracted (S18). The set area of those approximate color areas is defined as a desired object area.</p> |
