A ginger syrup drink is produced from a mixture of whole ginger, water and sugar cane. It can be stored for a year without preservatives or refrigeration. Cane sugar and ginger roots are mixed with hot water and heated to 150 deg C. The mixture is simmered for 8-10 hours, then cooled to 70-100 deg C and bottled. Approximately 1.05-1.10 kg sugar and 700-720 g ginger are used per l of water.
