PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to precisely recognize a specific image to be recognized by independently determining upper-limit and lower-limit values as to pieces of data and making the minimum value among the upper-limit value smaller than the maximum value among the lower-limit values. SOLUTION: A block averaged image obtained by a block averaging part 2 is sent to a comparison part 3. The comparison part 3 compares the averaged image data with reference data stored in a reference data storage part 4 in 5×5-block units. Assuming that (x) of reference data (x, y) is a lower-limit value and (y) is an upper-limit value, when all mean values of blocks of the output of the averaging means 2 are between (x) and (y), it is recognized that the image is a specific image prescribed by the data (x, y). Then information per block of the data (x, y) gives recognition permissible with, block by block, according to characteristics of the original specific image. When the recognition permissible width is set, the minimum value among the upper-limit values of each block is made smaller than the maximum value among the lower-limit value of each block. |
