PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent static electricity from being charged in a data cartridge. SOLUTION: The surface of a base plate 3 of a data cartridge is subjected to a chromate treatment, thus coating the surface with a conductive film 301 and bringing a grounding means such as an elastic arm 87 and a roller 84 for positioning cartridge provided at the chassis of the data cartridge drive into contact with the conductive covering 301 of the base plate 3 when the data cartridge has been set in the inside of the data cartridge drive.
