PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for a natural language processing in which no long time is required for waiting for the processing until a user's command is received in an electronic mail reading device. SOLUTION: The electronic mail reading device is provided with the natural language processing device 14 and a voice synthesizer. The device 14 takes out one row from the contents of an electronic mail of an electronic mail holding section 101 and copies the contents in an main block holding section 103. Then, analyses are successively made for the characters starting from the leading head of the section 103 till a last character and the result is held in an analysis result holding section 106. If the case exists in which a word spans from the end of the section 103 to a subblock holding section 104, the analysis is made till the word. Based on the analysis result of the section 106, a reading is conducted for every row in a voice synthesizer 15.
