The mechanism (1) is a bending press. The object, e.g. an electronic integrated circuit, is placed on a central block (10) on the lower part of the press. The object has contact wires which protrude laterally at right angles to the sides. The upper part of the press is aligned over the lower part by vertical tubes (34). When the upper part is pressed downwards, four rollers (2, 4, 6, 8) bend the ends of the contact wires downwards at right angles to form pins which can be inserted in a printed circuit board.
