PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a measuring apparatus by which the distance between a preceding vehicle and a succeeding vehicle is found surely in a simple processing operation and by which a warning is given to the succeeding vehicle when the succeeding vehicle comes close to a danger. SOLUTION: A distance-measuring apparatus 12 is provided with one pair of photodetectors 3, 4 in which (m) pieces each of photosensor arrays 31 to 3m, 41 to 4m using their nearly vertical direction as their length direction are arranged in parallel on image formation faces of lenses 1, 2. In the distance-measuring apparatus, (n) pieces of windows are set at intervals of pixels on (m) pieces of sensor lines, and measured distances in (m)×(n) pieces of points whose coordinates are decided by sensor line numbers and measuring window addresses are detected by a distance detection circuit 6 as distance signals 9. By using their detection results, the sensor line in which the image of a white line on a road surface exists is detected by a white-line extraction part 7 as white-line information 10. A vehicle extraction part 8 investigates the existence of a vehicle by using the detection result of the distance detection circuit 6 regarding the sensor lines in which the image of the line does not exist, and it detects and outputs information 11 on the distance between vehicles and on a vehicle direction. A warning is given to a succeeding vehicle by blinking a brake lamp or the like. |
