Capturing fault data in textile inspection

The textile being examined (3) may be moved (G) along an inclined table (2) under the control of an operator (4). The movement (G) is measured by a metering wheel (10), displayed (11) and supplied to a data processing unit (9). A wide angle (7) video camera (6) is also connected to the data processing unit (9) and is able to acquire an image over a zone (8) which includes the textile and a menu area at the side. When the operator identifies a fault a pointer (12) is aligned and three lamps within it are illuminated for detection by the camera (6). The type of fault and operational commands are also signalled in the same way by using the pointer in the menu area.
