The parking brake control system consists of a pivoted lever (14) actuated by a sliding rod (10) with a handle (7) which travels in a lengthwise direction and projects from the forward bulkhead (4). The lever is slightly shorter than the distance (H) between its axis (16) and the rod. It is situated to the rear of the rod's forward end when the brake is in the 'off' position, and is connected to it by a pivoted link (13). The respective lengths of the lever, rod and link are such that the lever and link always lie at an angle of 90 - 120 degrees to one another, while the angle between the link and rod lies between 45 and 90 degrees when the brake is applied. In addition, the rod's free end slides in a guide (11) on a support (12) fixed to the floor of the vehicle and on which the gear lever and other controls are mounted.
