A vehicle body cover (2) is carried by a roller (1) supported at one end of the body and is deployed and retracted by at least one side arm (20) which pivots about an axis perpendicular to the body's lengthwise axis to move the cover between its retracted position on the roller to its deployed position covering the open top of the body. The deployment mechanism can be in the form of two arms (20), one each side of the vehicle body, and the roller (1) can be fixed to one end of the body, the other end being equipped with fastenings for the free end of the cover when deployed. The arms can be made, for example, in telescopic sections (20a, 20b) so that their length varies as they move from one end to the body to the other. In a variant of the design the arms can carry a spray bar for spraying the contents of the body with a liquid product.
