The hole punch, e.g. for articles (8) covered with a fabric (9), has a ring (4) with a lip (11) and claw (10) to cut and clamp the fabric (9) before the hole is punched in it. In one variant of the design the claw can be made in the form of a detachable component which is adjustable relative to the lip. The ring and claw assembly can be adjusted to modify the force of a spring (5) and. consequently, the cutting effort applied by the ring to the fabric and the backing material (8).
