The rotary garden tool consists of an elongated shaft (12) with two handles (14) and a head (16) with a series of fixed curved spikes (24,26,28,30) which are angled so they dig into the soil, breaking up lumps and aerating when the shaft is rotated by the handles. The upper end of the shaft extends vertically from the middle of the handles, while its lower end is inclined slightly towards the rear so that the fixing point (32) of the spikes is offset from the vertical to form a thrust surface for applying foot pressure to drive the spikes into the ground. The thrust surface is formed by having the front spikes longer than the rear ones.
