The shelving system has a male coupling (314) formed directly on or secured to metal shelving (313) having a cruciformed piercing pressed outwards to mate with complementary punched keyhole hole (329) in angular shelf supporting uprights (312). The holes are spaced apart along the longitudinal length of the upright. If required the male coupling pressing can be provided on an L shaped bracket which can be e.g. rivetted to a metal or screwed to a wood shelf.
