PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for measuring an image wherein, to attain improved reproducibility in a thin line part of an image, an image state, especially line width and image height, is measured easily and accurately. SOLUTION: With a measurement head 200 with a built-in laser focus displacement gauge, an image G on a form P is scanned in image width direction with optical beam Bm of pitch thinner than image width, for measuring optical beam state (beam length) for each scan paint, and based on the measurement result, a cross section profile is drawn with an image cross section profile drawing means 53, so that height and width for each pitch of image are calculated front an equation, image height = Imax- (Imin + m), 0<=m<=μ-2σ, wherein Imax means profile's maximum value Imin means profile's minimum value, (m) means parameter of image height,μmeans average particle size from powder volume distribution forming image,σmeans standard deviation when the powder volume distribution is applied to normal distribution.
