The wiper blade has an upper edge (22) which is fitted with a reinforcing strip (26) for connecting it to the blade holder. The strip is made in two sections (26A,26B) connected by a lengthwise hinge (34) which enables the strip to be opened for fitting onto the blade. The blade reinforcing strip is in the form of a lengthwise extrusion with an inner cavity shaped to fit over the outer edge of the wiper blade and prevent any relative movement in a vertical direction between them. The blade edge and reinforcing strip can have a dovetail or circular cross-section, and the strip is moulded from a plastic and or a thermoplastic material, e.g. polysulfone or polystyrene, and has at least one side projection (40).
