PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine acceptability by determining defect in the shape of a crankshaft, e.g. underfill, quantitatively in a short time with high accuracy. SOLUTION: Three or more points are selected from a part generating no defect of shape as compared with a reference shape. Same number of points constituting a polygon geometrically identical to a polygon defined by the selected points are then detected from a measured shape. The measured shape is superposed on a reference shape such the polygons are matched each other and the measured shape is compared with the reference shape in order to inspect defect in the shape. According to the method, defect in the shape, e.g. underfill, can be measured automatically in a short time with high accuracy. |
