RESHAPING DEVICE FOR BINARY LIGHT SIGNAL AND USE OF THIS DEVICE IN ORDER TO CHANGE THIS SIGNAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the quality of binary light signals by supplying the output signal generated as a result of the interference to intensify first and second complementary waves with each other or the interference to weaken the same with each other when the outputs of modulation signals are respectively equal to a first or second power level. SOLUTION: A first stage 1 receives an input signal E and the third port of a circulator 5 supplies the modulation signal B via a rejector filter F fixed at the wavelength λe of the input signal AE. The second stage 2 of the device includes an interferometer structure 7 consisting of two guide branches respectively including semiconductor optical amplifiers OA1, OA2. The complementary waves AM1, AM2 correspond to the waves M1, M2 outputted from a coupler K1. Currents 11, 12 are so adjusted that the output signal S is generated by the interference to intensify the waves AM1, AM2 with each other when the power of the modulation signal B is low and that the output signal is generated by the interference to intensify the same with each other in an opposite case.
