PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an excellent image without causing any ghost by preventing the charge quantity of toner on a developer carrier from being fluctuated according to the rotational cycle of the developer carrier, in a developing device for visualizing a latent image formed on an image carrier by the sticking of the toner. SOLUTION: The press-contact part of a layer forming member 3 for forming a toner layer on the developer carrier 2 is made of a semiconductive elastic material and an AC voltage is applied to the press-contact part. On the downstream side of the layer forming member 3, an electrifier provided with a charge applying member 5 and an electrification control member 6 interposed between the member 5 and the developer carrier is disposed. A voltage applied to the layer forming member 3 is set within the range where a voltage VP- P is two or more times a discharge starting voltage and leakage never occurs and a frequency is set within the range where the following up of the toner is suppressed. Thus, electricity is discharged in the gap between the layer forming member 3 and the developer carrier, so that the charge quantities of the toner after passing through a developing region and newly supplied toner are reduced. |
