PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely correct the positional deviation of a rotor immediately before the driving of a stepping motor is started by predicting the next driving starting timing of the motor and preexciting the coil of the same phase as the last excitation phase at the preceding driving time within a prescribed period of time before the predicted next driving starting timing. SOLUTION: The control circuit 16 of a stepping motor 24 functions as a driving starting timing predicting means which automatically predicts the next driving starting timing of the motor 24 by calculating a target number of driving steps within a prescribed period of time. The circuit 16 drives the motor 24 to a target position by outputting a drive signal based on the computed result of the target number of driving steps. While the motor 24 is stopped, in addition, the circuit 16 stops the power supply to the motor 24 and, at the same time, corrects the deviation of the stopping position of the rotor of the motor 24 immediately before the driving of the motor 24 is started by preexciting the coil of the same phase as the last excitation phase at the preceding driving time with a prescribed period of time before the predicted next driving starting timing. Therefore, the rotation of the motor 24 can be controlled accurately. |
