PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shield the light of peripheral regions without providing the device with black matrices by providing the parts corresponding to the peripheral regions of a color filter substrate with light shielding layers which consist of colored layer of a single layer or are formed by laminating the two different colored layers. SOLUTION: The parts where pixel electrodes and counter electrodes face each other are display regions and the outer peripheral parts thereof are the peripheral regions. The active matrix substrate is provided with gate signal lines 3 as scanning wirings and source signal lines 5 as signal wirings so as to intersect with each other past the neighborhood of the respective pixel electrodes in a plain view. Further, both signal lines 3, 5 are formed to extend beyond the peripheral regions. Scanning voltages are inputted on the gate signal lines 3 via input terminals formed in the terminal regions on the outer side thereof and signal voltages are inputted on the source signal lines 5. In such a case, the parts corresponding to the peripheral regions of the color filter substrate have the light shielding layers which consist of the colored layer of the single layer or are formed by laminating the two different colored layers. |
