PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate the particle speed to a probe by calculating the probability density of the signal vector of an electric signal responding to the passage of particles in illuminated measuring vol. and determining frequency showing a speed becoming max. in probability. SOLUTION: Two parallel beams L1, L2 are formed by a laser beam splitter 3 from a laser beam source 1 through an output collimator 2 to be turned toward an optical system 51 by a bending reflecting system 4. The optical system 51 converges the laser beams L1, L2 into the measuring vol. VM contained in the atmosphere through which the constitutional particles of space aerosols pass. These aerosols send back scattered laser beam RL and this laser beam RL is detected by a photodetector 7 through optical systems 51, 52, 53. A signal processing means calculates the probability density of a signal vector showing N digital samples of a detection signal to determine the frequency becoming max. in probability and calculates the speed of particles to the probe, that is, the speed of particles to an airplane on the basis of the frequency. |
