摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen unequal luminance by subjecting the light emitted from a prism array through a polarization beam splitter, mirrors andλ/2 plate to RGB sepn. and projecting the light transmitted through a polarizing plate to a screen. SOLUTION: The luminous flux emitted from a light source 41 is reflected by a reflector 42 and is then made into parallel luminous fluxes of undefined polarization. These luminous fluxes are made incident on the perpendicular surface 44a of the polarization beam splitter 44. The first S polarized light s1 subjected to the sepn. is thereupon made incident on the mirror 46 and the S polarized light s1 subjected to the reflection is made incident on the prism sheet 47. The first P polarized light p1 subjected to the sepn. is made incident on theλ/2 plate 48. The second S polarizing light s2 emitted from theλ/2 plate 48 is made incident on the mirror 49 and the S polarized light s2 subjected to the reflection is made incident on the prism sheet 47. The third S polarizing light s3 emitted from the prism sheet 47 is made incident on a dichroic mirror 48. The luminous fluxes of R, G, B which are the S polarizing light emitted therefrom are condensed to a projecting lens 52.
