The exercise apparatus comprises a frame (2) inside which are held elastic elements (E1,E2,E3,E4) with two strands. These elements cross over in the frame central region. A support and retaining part (3) for the elastic elements can be displaced inside the frame by the user against the elastic resistances. The support part has a part forming a tube which extends into the frame central region. Each of its ends are provided with an annular collar which form stops for retaining the elastic elements inside the frame volume. A spindle (4) fitted into the tube supports an activating part (5) which receives a hand, foot or other member of the user.
