In a process to fill a chemical reactor with a catalyst introduced by a tube and distributed, the novelty is that: (a) the catalyst is discharged through a rotating distributor incorporating five distributor heads; (b) the distributor head begins action at the bottom of the reactor, and is gradually raised on a telescopic pipe (51) as the reactor fills; (c) the five distributor heads (47, 48) are arranged in an X-shape fitted to a working platform (44) supported by the reactor walls.
