Vehicle navigation system for setting direction indications for connecting streets

The navigation system has a display unit (7) for displaying a map (70) of a road junction (73) and a connecting street (70c-70e) connected to the junction. A determination unit (6) determines a directional indicator based on the direction of a vehicle entering the connecting street. A control unit (6) controls the display unit so that the map and indicator are only displayed when the vehicle is within a defined distance of the junction.
