Manually operated angle transmitter

The transmitter (1) has a rotary manually operated transmitter element (9) monitored by a sensor. A magnetic latching mechanism, operating without contact, retains the transmitter element in defined angular positions swept by manual operation of the transmitter. The latching mechanism has a first part, forming a path for magnetic flux, of tongues spaced apart on a line concentric with the axis of rotation. A second part is made up of magnets (45) arranged in the peripheral direction of alternate north and south poles. Both parts are located so that they move relative to one another. Around the permanent magnets a strip of sheet metal (33) is positioned a short distance away from them, the metal sheet having a row of evenly spaced notches (35).
