The water distribution is produced through a coarse mesh-like textile structure with built-in hoses to produce a watering mat. The textile structure is made from plastics foil strips and/or fibres and the hoses are formed from plastics and are slit to produce the watering holes. The mat is laid on or under the ground surface. A foil can be formed into a trough and laid underground and have a cover foil to prevent water evaporation. Plants can be planted through slits in the cover foil. Watering is controlled by a moisture sensor and regulator system to keep the ground damp in controlled areas.
