A cylinder fuel injection internal combustion engine in which a fuel is injected directly into a combustion chamber, and in which a compression stroke injection mode for carrying out fuel injection mainly in a compression stroke and a suction stroke injection mode for carrying out fuel injection mainly in a suction stroke can be selected in accordance with the operational condition of the engine, comprising a means (101) for detecting the operational condition or operational environmental condition of the internal combustion engine, suction correcting means (6, 14) for changing the amount of suction air supplied to the engine, a means (110) for setting the suction correcting amount in accordance with the operational condition detected by the means (101), and a suction amount correction control means for controlling the operations of the suction correcting means (6, 14) on the basis of the suction correcting amount set by the means (110), the correlation between the operational condition and suction correcting amount being set separately for the compression stroke injection mode and suction stroke injection mode.</p> |
