The damping system is for a cylinder (1) consisting of a casing (2), a piston (6), a piston rod (7) and a damping device (14) in the form of a bush (14) able to move axially between stop surfaces (15, 16). The damping bush led out between the stop surfaces of the casing and/or the cover (3, 4) closing it from the outside. The bush has at least one boring (21) to form a radial internal damping clearance, running roughly axially in the direction of the stop (15) on the casing or cover side.
