Vinyl or allyl monomers (A) containing fluorine atoms and sec. hydroxyl groups - prepared by reacting (B) a vinyl monomer or allylglycidyl ether containing epoxy groups reactive towards carboxyl groups with (C) fluorine-containing carboxylic acids or anhydrides of these, hemiesters of fluorine-containing monovalent alcohols and dicarboxylic acids or their anhydrides and/or perfluorocarboxylic acids of formula F-(CF2)n-COOH (I), n = 5-21. The preparation of (A) is also claimed.
