Method of producing encased valve seating

A mould (100) contains a first and second plate (104) each with hollow interior (106, 108). The hollow cavities for an opening (110) the same shape as the encased valve seating. One of the plates has an injection moulding duct (112). A support frame is positioned in the mould so as to occupy the centre of the opening when the two plates are placed to close the mould and form the opening. The mould is heated, and heated, viscous polymeric material injected via the duct into the opening to enclose the support frame in the polymeric material. The mould is cooled and the polymeric material solidified to form an enclosed valve seating which is then removed from the mould.
