Automatic reconstruction of torn documents

The deliberately torn elements of documents S1-S4 are scanned by a CCD camera 1. The data is fed into a control unit 30 together with a manual input 3 and inputs from sensors 2. The control unit regulates the flow of information to a 'puzzle module' that processes and makes sense of the document segments. The output data is fed to a number of mass storage memories 20. Segment data is sorted and used to reconstruct the documents.
