An apparatus for neutralisation and deodorisation of ammonia and sulphur dioxide consists of a cylindrical body (2) with an open outlet region (2b) and equipped in the inlet region (2a) with a spray nozzle (5) which is fed by a supply line (3) and which produces a sprayed mist (9) which fills the whole cross section of the vessel, the mist being formed from a composition which in the liquid phase comprises an organic acid in a buffered medium in combination with their dissolved alkali salts and deionised water.
