The hedge cutters have a stamped, bent, or drawn sheet metal component (20) fitted in a 2-part housing, for supporting the armature shaft and/or a drive shaft and/or a blade carrier and blade rail. The sheet metal component is twice bent through 90 degrees in the longitudinal direction, to provide 2 parallel offset sections (24,26), provided with respective bearings for the different components.
