Hand measuring instrument for colour print spectra

A spectrum measuring instrument for hand use in the correction of colour printing and proofs has a measuring head (1) in which the opening (4) for the sensor (5) is made in the side of the housing (3). This is linked to a monolithic spectrum analyser (12) comprising a curved screen (14) and diode (15) fixed to the base plate (2). This is placed on the face (7) of the printed item being examined. The instrument has no inner or outer moving elements. It is compact and easy to handle, simple to construct and inexpensive. It can be used to measure colour properties in very small areas with adequate precision, using only slight hand shifting to cover a wider field.
