The adamantane derivative is represented by the general formula (I), and the compound having an adamantane skeleton is represented by the general formula (VII) or (VIII), wherein W represents a hydrogen atom or the like; X represents a group represented by the general formula (II) or the like; Y represents a group represented by the general formula (V) or (VI); R1 represents a methyl or ethyl group; R2 represents a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 10 carbon atoms which may have O or S; m represents an integer of 2 to 4; k represents an integer of 0 to (16-m); and p and q independently represent an integer of 1 to 5.
