The control element, for controlling the quantity of a suspension (S) flowing from a high pressure space (1) to a low pressure space (2), has a cylindrical housing (4), in which a vortex flow can be produced by supply of a control fluid (F), the housing being equipped with one or more tangential suspension inlets (5), one or more tangential control fluid injection tubes (6) and one or more axial outlets (7) for the mixture (M) resulting from mixing of the suspension (S) with the control fluid (F).
