摘要 <p>A fuel control device for cylinder injection type internal combustion engines which is capable of cutting off fuel supplying to a combustion chamber depending upon an operating state of the engine and suitable for use in cylinder injection type internal combustion engines, in which a compression stroke injection mode can be selected for the purpose of enabling shifting to fuel cutoff and shifting to fuel injection from fuel cutoff without incurring shock of switching in the engine. The fuel control device comprises decelerated state detecting means (41), idling detecting means (38), target air-fuel ratio setting means (107) for setting a target air-fuel ratio in the compression stroke injection mode, and air-fuel ratio control means (108) for controlling an air-fuel ratio on the basis of the target air-fuel ratio, and is constructed such that in the compression stroke injection mode the target air-fuel ratio setting means (107) sets a first target air-fuel ratio on a relatively rich side as a target air-fuel ratio at the time of decelerated state but not at the time of idling state on the basis of a detection result of the detecting means (41, 38), and sets a value, which changes stepwisely toward a second leaner target air-fuel ratio than the first target air-fuel ratio, as a target air-fuel ratio at the time of decelerated state as well as the time of idling state.</p>
