In a paging network the messages sent to the paging receivers are numbered consecutively. Lost messages (3) are detected by the paging receiver due to this numbering. The lost messages will be sent later again upon request of the user. A later sent lost message is provided with the usual consecutive number (6) and is additionally provided with a code (ROLM) indicating that the message is a retransmission of a lost message. In this way the paging receiver can keep track of repeated lost messages in a simple and efficient manner.

|
