A warp knitted textile fabric with inelastic and dimensionally stable stitch construction for use as an underwire covering in a brassiere comprises inelastic yarns (40, 42) in the fabric wales and courses with a first set (42) thereof knitted with coursewise stitches having extended underlaps therebetween and a second set (40) thereof warp knitted in a pattern of walewise chain stitches canted in a coursewise inclination relative to wales.
