<p>A dye composition (I) for human hair comprises a dyeing medium containing at least one oxidation base (II) and, as coupler, a 2-iminoindoline derivative of formula (III) and/or its salts. R1 = H, alkyl, monohydroxyalkyl, alkoxyalkyl, 2-4C polyhydroxyalkyl or 2-4C acyl; R2 = H, alkyl, phenyl or arylsulphonyl; R3 = H or alkyl (optionally substituted by one or more of hydroxy, alkoxy, amino, monoalkylamino, dialkylamino, cyano and aryl); R4, R5 = H, hydroxy, alkyl, alkoxy, amino, monoalkylamino, dialkylamino, amino, 7-11C aralkyl, halogen or nitro; alkyl moieties have 1-4C unless specified otherwise. Also claimed are: the use of (III) as a coupler in oxidation dye compositions for keratin fibres (especially human hair), in combination with (II); a method of dyeing hair comprising application of (I), where the colour is developed at acid, neutral or alkaline pH using an oxidising agent (IV) added to (I) immediately before use or as a separate composition; and a dyeing kit with one compartment containing (III) and another (IV).</p> |
