New detergent or cosmetic composition (I) is stabilised by the use of a copolymer of formula (II) in which: R1 is H or COOH; R2, R5 and R6 are H or CH3; R3 is a group with at least one acid function; R4 is CONH2, COOR4', CONR4''R4''' (with R4', R4'' and R4''' 1-4C alkyl groups, in the case of R4' a 1-4C oxyalkyl group, in the case of R4'', H) or ; R7 is a 1-4C alkyl group; R9 is an 8-22C alkyl chain; A is an unsaturated polymerisable group (an ester, urethane or ether); 2<n ≤ 30; Z is N or S; if Z is N R8 is an 8-22C alkyl chain or -(O-CH2-CH(R6))n-(A)- (IV), if Z is S there is no R8; X is a sulphate or a halide; B is a cationic monomer ((meth)acrylic trimethyl ammonium ethyl/propyl chloride/sulphate); and a, b and c (=c'+c'') are such that (II) comprises 15-95 wt.% of the anionic moiety, 0-65 wt.% of the non-ionic moiety and 5-60 wt.% of cationic moieties.
