Lamp manufacturing procedure and lamp manufactured by said procedure

The lamp manufacturing method has an evacuated glass envelope (3) provided by a glass sleeve which is open at one end and a funnel sleeve (5) inserted in the latter at its open end before fusing the edges of the sleeves together. The funnel sleeve is fused to a further sleeve section (6) used for evacuating the interior of the lamp envelope. The length of the open ended glass sleeve is selected so that it is deformed inwards and fused to the funnel sleeve without any residual glass wastage by application of heat, with subsequent evacuation of the interior (7), before separation and sealing of the further sleeve section.
