PURPOSE:To always obtain an adequate distance signal of an object, by scanning with a spot like luminous flux within a photographing image angle range and latching the distance signal from a light receiving element by the detection of the peak of the photocurrent of the light receiving element. CONSTITUTION:Spot like luminous flux is allowed to irradiate an object 7 from a light emitting element 1 through a projection lens 2 and the reflected light thereof is received by a light receiving element 4 through a light receiving lens 3 to measure the distance up to the object 7. At this time, the analog photocurrent obtained from the light receiving element 4 is applied to a distance measuring circuit 12 and a light quantity peak detection circuit 13 while the circuit 12 calculates a distance signal which is, in turn, converted to a digital signal by an A/D converter to be continuously applied to a latch circuit 14. The circuit 13 detects a peak value to output a latch signal to a latch signal generating circuit 14. The circuit 14 outputs the distance signal digitally displayed as a measured distance value in synchronous relation to the latch signal. |
