摘要 A method for selectively separating xylene and ethylbenzene from a mixture thereof is provided to improve efficiency of separating xylene and ethylbenzene with high purity through a simple process using guanidinium 2,6-naphthalene disulfonate. A method for selectively separating xylene and ethylbenzene from a mixture thereof comprises a step of mixing a mixture of xylene and ethylbenzene to guanidinium 2,6-naphthalene disulfonate in order to react to each other. The guanidinium 2,6-naphthalene disulfonate has an inclusion effect with excellent chemical attraction to the xylene as a host molecule. The xylene of the mixture indicates a guest molecule which is selectively included in the guanidinium 2,6-naphthalene disulfonate so that the xylene can be separated from the ethylbenzene.
