PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize the favorable recording at the thermal sublimation transfer recording, which requires to give high recording energy to the heating element of a head by a method wherein the heat radiating member of the thermal head is arranged at the part opposite to the thermal head outside the recording range in a thermal printer. SOLUTION: The recording action of a thermal head 7 is temporarily interrupted when a thermistor provided near the thermal head 7 detects the temperature, which is higher than the predetermined temperature set by a recording mode. After that, by moving a carriage 4, the thermal head 7 is moved to a heat radiating member 9 part arranged at one longitudinal end part of a platen 2. In succession, the thermal head 7 is headed-down so as to urge the recording surface of the thermal head 7 against the heat radiating member 9 is order to reciprocate the carriage 4 within the range indicated with the arrows so as to slide the thermal head 7 against the heat radiating member 9. Thus, the heat accumulated in the thermal head 7 is radiated and the stain of the thermal head 7 can be also removed. |
